Solutions Calendar Offers International Information

Just a click away

The Solutions editorial staff consists of Stargate fans from around the world. It is only fitting that we provide information about the shows for more of the international community. To start, we’ve added airing dates for current-season episodes for both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis to our calendar, a new feature of our on-site forum. Right now, the calendar has the schedules for current-season airings on Canada’s SPACE, Movie Central, and Movie Network, as well as Sky One for the UK and SciFi in the US. Additionally, SciFi’s showing of older season SG-1 episodes on weekdays and the US Syndication schedule are provided. The November and December calendars are fairly up-to-date considering these schedules are oftentime changed without much notice. (If you have schedule information not on the calendar and wish to have it added, please just contact us and we’ll see about adding it.)

We’ve also included convention schedules from around the globe. As with the episode airings, we have a link to a forum post which gives more information about the event. It’s a great resource!

And, to add a personal touch, we’ve included the birthdays of the shows’ main cast members. If you want to see an actor’s birthday added, just let us know.

Benefits of joining the forum include the ability to post to our discussion topic threads and send private messages to other forum members. Unregistered guests still get to read the topics, but anything included in spoiler tags will not be visible. We have a special topic thread just for the calendar in case you’d like to correspond to our administrators about the feature.

You can get directly to the calendar by clicking on the links on Solutions’ home page under the “Solutions Calendar” heading in the “New Episodes & Spoilers” box (upper left-hand box). If you’re in the forum itself, use the Calendar button on the top menu bar.

Enjoy!

Solutions Honored in 2006 Stargate Fan Awards

The staff of Stargate SG-1 Solutions are proud and honored that they have won the 2006 General Website Award.

The Stargate Fan Awards has been in existence since 2001 and all the nominations and votes come from Stargate fans. The site itself is run by some (presumably very tired by now) volunteers.

Considering over 25,000 votes were cast amongst all the categories in websites, fan art, fanvids, fanfiction, etc, and our competition included some other notable sites, we are deeply honored by the accolade.

All of the winners and nominees can be found at www.stargatefanawards.com.

Solutions thanks all the participants, and congratulates our fellow winners and nominees in the awards.

As the forum closes, our LJ opens!

It is with regret that we announce the closure of our Delphi forum, SG1Solutions. As the Solutions site has grown and grown over the past few years, the demands on our staffers and editorial team have also grown. In fact, we’ve grown so far and so fast, we’ve had to review the projects we can commit ourselves to.

The location of the forum on Delphi was problematic for some fans and monitoring the forum was becoming difficult to maintain. To help with both of these problems, we’ve decided to close the Delphi forum and encourage our visitors to post in our Livejournal community, SG1 Solutions instead. Unlike Delphi, you don’t have to pay to join and it’s completely ad free. The community is run by some of our Wiki writers and is a fun, informal setting in which to post and chat about the show, the characters, the actors and the Stargate world online, in print and in our lives.

Please join us in our LJ community! We’re kicking off with discussion of the latest episode, 10.01 Flesh And Blood.

Solutions open to Many Voices

Old hands will remember that Solutions started out as the site of “Many Voices,” where anyone could write an essay, review, critique or hymn of praise and we’d happily publish it on the site. While tremendous efforts have been focused on bulding up our amazing Stargate Wiki database, we’ve reached a point in site development where we want to once again open Many Voices for business.

Many Voices will be about opinion and editorial, and it’s for y’all – there’s an open invitation to everyone to submit articles. Just drop us a line!

We’ve made a gentle start, with one or two recent editorial articles and a fresh new Season 10 reviews & ratings section. Please come check it out.

Stargate Wiki Keeps On Growing

Stargate Wiki exceeds 2000 articles

Regular visitors to the Solutions Stargate Wiki might have noticed a surge in new articles recently as episode guides to the spin-off Stargate Atlantis were added to the growing collection of Stargate articles. Although the Stargate Wiki concentrates on the mythology of Stargate SG-1, there is some crossover between the two shows which needed to be addressed. With the potential of even greater crossovers coming when members of each show’s regular cast appear in their sister show’s episodes in the upcoming seasons, the addition of these guides will help SG-1 viewers get background information about Atlantis without having to search for the information outside of the wiki.

Also, another major project which has been ongoing is to add planet articles. Even the planets which only get a brief mention are included in the wiki!

We here at Solutions are proud of the Stargate Wiki, now a bit over two years old and one of the first of its kind on the Internet. It will continue to grow as long as there are things to be said about Stargate SG-1 and its wonderful wealth of characters.

Happy Birthday, Stargate Wiki!

Wiki logo

Two years ago today, the Solutions Stargate Wiki was born. Starting with only a main page, our baby has grown to 1,951 articles in a database over 100 MB in size, with over 10,000 images. In total, our pages have been viewed more than 3.4 million times!

We would like to thank all of the contributors to our in-depth articles, transcripts, and episode guides, from the editors, to those who provide content to us, to those who write to tell us where we’ve missed something 🙂

We’d also like to thank all of the wiki’s users, who have made it feel welcome and useful for these two years of life.

The wiki is still going strong, growing every day; it will live on as long as there is a fandom who comes to visit!

Pardon Our Dust! Wiki Moved, Sort Of

Edited to add… we’ve rigged things up so that old links into the wiki will work, but a little slower than the new ones. So it’s a good idea to update your bookmark to our spiffy new URL: http://www.stargate-sg1-solutions.com/wiki/Main_Page

Since we’ve made things “backward-compapitble,” the above will be our permanent wiki home. Well, as permanent as anything is in cyber space. Please email us if you see any problems. Now go and enjoy our new articles!

If you’re seeing this message, you’re seeing Solutions on a new hosting provider, which we hope will yield a more stable site. But, the move of the wiki has hit a snag in spite of our pre-move testing. So for now we have to keep it in a slightly different location, here:

http://www.stargate-sg1-solutions.com/wiki/Main_Page

We hope to get the subdomain (wiki.stargate-sg1-solutions.com) address working again. If anyone out there is a php mod_rewrite expert, we’d welcome your participation. 😉
