Friday, September 23	JOE FLANIGAN will be a guest star in tonight’s season premiere of Fringe on Fox at 9 PM ET. He’ll be portraying Robert Danzig in the episode “Neither Here Nor There.” The storyline: “The fourth season begins one week after Peter vanished, and as the two universes maintain an uneasy alliance, Lincoln Lee helps the Fringe team on a shape-shifting investigation that hits close to home.” Another Stargate vet, COLIN LAWRENCE also guests in this show that features Camelot’s governor Meurik himself, JOHN NOBLE.
Saturday, September 24	DAVID HEWLETT and ROBERT PICARDO star in the Syfy Original Movie Morlocks that premieres tonight at 9 PM ET. Using H.G. Wells’s Time Machine premise, the Morlocks from the future travel into the past—our present—and create some very serious problems. Tonight is also the Once Upon a Cure Gala in Vancouver for Hunter Syndrome. Stargate veterans scheduled to attend include AMANDA TAPPING, PAUL McGILLION, ELYSE LEVESQUE, PETER KELAMIS, JULIA BENSON, PETER DeLUISE, LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS, and RYAN ROBBINS.

Here’s a follow-up to the Emmy Awards nomination for the SGU VFX team: Unfortunately, the award went to Boardwalk Empire. VFX Supervisor and team lead MARK SAVELA graciously tweeted, “Congrats, the work on the pilot is Amazing. Well Deserved.” Stargate veteran BEAU BRIDGES was nominated for “Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series,” but that award went to Paul McCrane for his guest appearance in Harry’s Law. Other winners may be found in this PDF file from the Emmys website.

N. John Smith Talks About Stargate’s Vancouver Shooting Locations – Sadly, many of the locations are no longer available due to development, as Smith lamented, “In my 25 years producing in Vancouver, I saw a lot of our locations disappear that we used for years and years. Power lines were put up and houses were in the background where you wanted open fields.”
Mallozzi’s Stargate Memories (September 6, 2011) – Joseph Mallozzi resumes his trip down Stargate’s memory lane with SG-1’s Season Ten premiere “Flesh and Blood.”

Momoa’s Next Movie to Premiere April 13, 2012

Our new COMING SOON feature gives you advance notice as to when our Stargate actors will be making appearances in movies and television productions. We’ve had some updates made the previous week, so make sure to visit often for the latest in release news.

Coming Soon: Levesque, Luttrell, Shanks, Staite

We’ve updated our new COMING SOON feature recently with the addition of projects for ELYSE LEVESQUE, RACHEL LUTTRELL, MICHAEL SHANKS, and JEWEL STAITE. Additionally, we’ve discovered some more details for projects done by BEAU BRIDGES, BEN BROWDER, ALAINA HUFFMAN, and ROBERT PICARDO.

So, without further ado, here are the announcements and updates!

NEW PROJECTS

ELYSE LEVESQUE was mentioned in an interview with Twilight Saga‘s Tinsel Corey at Celebuzz.com about a new project she’s just finished called Fishing Naked. “It’s a comedy, I’ve been looking to do more comedic stuff. It’s called Fishing Naked, and I know the title sounds a little risqué but it’s more like your connection to the earth. Bronson Pelletier is in it, and also Elyse Levesque from Stargate Universe. And it is sort of like American Pie with a little bit of a supernatural twist. Its hilarious – I was reading it last night again and I was cracking up! It is a really funny movie.” The movie is being released in September 2011, but we don’t have a poster for it yet, so Elyse’s Coming Soon placeholder image sits in its place.

Way back, we reported that RACHEL LUTTRELL got a guest spot in Stevel Seagal’s new show True Justice. Since that report, Rachel said that it was a recurring role as a police officer, but we don’t have the names of the episodes in which she appears. The show debuted in the UK on 5USA on July 6 and it is still airing on Wednesday nights. The police action drama takes place on the dangerous streets of Seattle, Washington. While it was being produced, the show went through some name changes, and there’s talk that it will be released in the United States as a series of DTV movies. We’ll see, but in the meantime, Rachel’s recurring role status has been added to COMING SOON.

MICHAEL SHANKS has been busy going back and forth between Vancouver and Toronto lately because he’s working on projects that are being filmed in both locations. Not long ago, he filmed a pilot called Saving Hope in Toronto, then he returned to Vancouver where he shot The Pastor’s Wife. Then, back in Toronto, he filmed a guest spot in Flashpoint, and is now back in Vancouver filming a small role in the Matt Damon movie Elysium (aka Baja Dunes), which is “…a sci-fi story set 100 years in the future, with Matt Damon playing an ex-con and Jodie Foster playing the head of state of an alien race. A colonization plot thread has been rumored as part of the movie,” according to SlashFilm.com. The release date currently set for this movie is March 1, 2013! All of these projects, except the pilot, have now got posters in COMING SOON.

JEWEL STAITE just revealed via her Twitter that she has a role in Stargate alum MARTIN GERO‘s new six-part, hour-long series for CTV called Highland Gardens (working title). Details for this project can be found at the Bell Media PR website, which describes the series: “Set in and around an apartment-style hotel that draws aspiring performers from Canada, the U.S. and all over the world, HIGHLAND GARDENS is a no-holds-barred, character-driven relationship drama that follows the exploits of six young hopefuls in search of celluloid and stardom in Hollywood. Full of heart-rending moments, salacious temptations and hilarious escapades, HIGHLAND GARDEN’s coming-of-age dwellers grapple with life’s defining moments as they deal with the unreality of the show-biz industry.” Jewel plays the “street-smart Haligonian Raquel, who’s frightened of becoming yesterday’s news.” They’ll be moving their filming from Toronto to Hollywood in the fall. There’s no premiere date set.

UPDATED PROJECTS

We reported that BEAU BRIDGES will be in the Family Movie Night special Home and Away, and now we’ve got an update on that project: It’s title has been changed to Game Time: Tackling the Past and it will premiere on September 3 on NBC at 8/7c. If “Family Movie Night” sounds familiar, it’s because JOE FLANIGAN starred in one of its installments, Change of Plans. The Family Movie Night website has not been updated for Beau’s movie yet, but we expect that to happen soon.

We also reported that BEN BROWDER got a role in Bad Kids Go to Hell, but inadvertently left his Coming Soon poster out of the feature’s launch! We also knew about ROBERT PICARDO‘s role in The Legends of Nethiah, but we left out that poster, too! We’ve now corrected our errors of omission!

Syfy put out a press release about their new show Alphas (posted by TV By the Numbers), so now we have the name of the episode and its premiere date for ALAINA HUFFMAN‘s guest spot. Her episode will be airing this coming Monday, August 8, at 10/9c, and another Stargate alum, PETER WINGFIELD, will also be guesting in the same episode.

THAT’S IT FOR NOW…WE THINK

As our Stargate actors move on from the franchise into new roles, we’ll do our best to keep up. You’ll see all that we’ve got in the COMING SOON feature. We’ll do our best to give you a “heads-up” for the coming week in our regular STARGATE PLANNER feature that’s posted each Sunday. And then after the movie and television spots have been screened or aired, we’ll add images of the actors in their new roles to their galleries on their profile pages in our ACTORS…BEYOND THE EVENT HORIZON feature. Even with all of this research, we’re bound to miss something, even though we’re monitoring their Twitter accounts in our STARGATE TWITTER SUPERFEED, and that’s where you come in. If you hear of a new role or a release date or anything like that, please contact us so that we can update our readers. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our actor-specific features.

Saturday, May 7	BEAU BRIDGES and daughter Emily will be in Studio City, California, today at 2 PM to sign their published play Acting: The First Six Lessons. Here’s a portion of the announcement from Playbill: “Beau Bridges and his daughter Emily will appear at Samuel French Bookstore in Studio City, CA, May 7 at 2 PM to sign copies of their published play, Acting: The First Six Lessons, and partake in a reading and Q&A session. […] Samuel French Bookstore is located at 11963 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA.” The play was well received, and if you’re interested in the last performance they had, visit the Theatre West website for images and reviews.
Sunday, May 8	BEAU BRIDGES will be returning as Nick Brody in the season finale of Brothers & Sisters tonight at 10:01 PM ET on ABC. The synopsis: “In the fifth-season finale, a surprise guest shows up at Sarah and Luc’s wedding; and Kitty faces a tough decision.”

Actors…Beyond the Event Horizon – DAVID BLUE and ELYSE LEVESQUE have been added to this exclusive Solutions feature! More SGU actor pages will be added over the next few weeks.
Stargate Wiki – We’ve got updated episode guides and transcripts for the current season of SGU, the most recent addition being the transcript for “Epilogue.” We’ve also updated the guides for the SG-1 and SGA movies, unfortunately reporting that these movies have been shelved.
Solutions LJ – JOSEPH MALLOZZI concluded his trek down memory lane for his first season with the franchise: Season Four of Stargate SG-1. Catch up and comment in our Solutions LJ: “Window of Opportunity,” “Watergate,” “The First Ones,” “Scorched Earth,” and “Beneath the Surface” (April 24); “Point of No Return,” “Tangent,” “The Curse,” “Serpent’s Venom,” “Chain Reaction,” and “2010” (April 25); “Absolute Power,” “The Light,” and “Prodigy” (April 26); “Entity,” “Double Jeopardy,” and “Exodus” (April 27).

Actor and Crew Updates

Not too long ago, JOE FLANIGAN mentioned in an interview, “I separated my shoulder in a mountain biking accident. I was coming down a single track trail at a furious speed – I just got brand new handle bars that were extra long – they snagged a branch and they just kind of threw me over and I landed on my back. I actually feel pretty damn lucky that it’s just an AC separation and not something more serious.” He went on with the injury to the Vancouver Stargate Con, and then he finally had the surgery on April 27. All is well, as the actor kept his fans updated on his Twitter (including providing a picture of him in his hospital bed), joking that on the day after, “My new breasts look great.”
MARK SAVELA did an interview with Sci Fi and TV Talk Blog about his prospect pilot Echoes. This production has several former Stargate cast and crew involved. They filmed a 13-minute prospect piece from the two-part pilot script, hoping to use it as a pitch for the creation of a new series. This crew is very well put together as they transfer their many years with Stargate into their own production. Echoes features JENNIFER SPENCE and MIKE DOPUD in leading roles.
BRIAN J. SMITH did an interview with Redeye Chicago/Show Patrol about his upcoming Syfy movie Red Faction: Origins. Smith declares that this movie is not going to be your typical “MOW” and that “It’s definitely quality and it has really, really smart minds behind it.” Stargate alum ROBERT PATRICK also stars. Red Faction: Origins premieres Saturday, June 4, at 9 PM ET.
CHRISTOPHER JUDGE and JEWEL STAITE are scheduled to be at the Tulsa Trek Expo in June, according to Tulsa World.
JASON MOMOA has been interviewed a lot recently, covering his roles of Khal Drogo in HBO’s Game of Thrones (currently airing on Sunday nights) and of Conan in the upcoming Conan the Barbarian movie (coming August 19). MICHAEL SHANKS did a video interview while he was in France a few weekends ago for the SciFi15 convention. Solutions LJ has the embedded video in which Shanks discusses Stargate and his most recent projects.
MING-NA is back in Vancouver shooting her recurring role in Syfy’s Eureka. Her new role is Alice Wen, a senator who arrives in Eureka to handle a sensitive matter within Global Dynamics.

Jason-Momoa-GOT-Teaser3 — Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo in GAME OF THRONES (HBO)

Jason Momoa – His Conan movie was renamed to Conan the Barbarian, but still has the same release date in the United States: August 19, 2011. For his other project, HBO’s Game of Thrones, there are some rumors going around that HBO might already be renewing the new series for a second season, even before the first has been aired. Speculation as to why this might be the case can be found at the fansite Winter Is Coming. This fansite is very active in posting the latest news on the new HBO series and this editor highly recommends it. There’s also a recent article that includes an image of Momoa as Khal Drogo entitled “MGoT update: Join the Dothraki horde.”
Michael Shanks, Lexa Doig, Steve Bacic – Filming has wrapped for Hangar 14. Shanks plays a bad guy, a Russian gangster named Demetrius, and Doig plays a SWAT team member along with Steve Bacic, Michael Jai White, and the movie’s star, former wrestler Steve Austin. Doig published a few pictures on her Twitter while on the set of the movie: “Me as SWAT chick” and “The Boys :).” Currently, IMDb lists Doig in her role, but not her husband Shanks! The storyline: “A training exercise for the LAPD SWAT Team goes terribly wrong when they find themselves pitted against two rival gangs while trapped in an abandoned Hangar, armed with nothing but blanks.”
Stargate Universe – Our Stargate Wiki now has all of the transcripts for the first half of Season Two. SGU will be returning to Syfy in the Spring, possibly early April 2011.

News Flashes and Brief Follow-Ups

Rachel Luttrell – She’s got a recurring role as a cop in Steven Seagal’s new show True Justice that’s shooting in Vancouver. At first we thought it was a single guest spot, but according to Luttrell herself in a recent interview at Demon’s FM, the role is recurring. We don’t know how many episodes she’ll be appearing in, but we’re hoping she’ll give us the heads-up once the show begins airing next year. Luttrell also said that her new romantic jazz CD will be coming out in time for Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2011).

Tuesday, November 23	Syfy: SGU 2.09 “Visitation” at 9 PM ET, with a repeat at 11 PM. Sky1/UK: SGU 2.08 “Malice” at 9 PM. We’re certain that tonight is the night that Michael Shanks can be seen in Cartoon Network’s Tower Prep as Professor Literature (the previews say so)! Tune in tonight at 9 PM ET for “Book Report.” You can catch him in the episode’s preview video at MSOL, and Cartoon Network places full episodes on their website after airing.
Wednesday, November 24
Thursday, November 25	Today is Thanksgiving Day in the USA SGU 1.14 “Human” on New Zealand’s Prime TV at 8:30 PM.
Friday, November 26	Sci Fi/Australia: SGU 2.09 “Visitation” at 8:30 PM. Space/Canada: SGU 2.09 “Visitation” at 10 PM ET. Season Two of Stargate Universe is premiering on TV6 in Sweden! Catch “Intervention” at 9 PM! Paul McGillion‘s movie The Traveler (fka Mr. Nobody) with Val Kilmer is being released directly to video in Region 2! For a preview trailer and other information, visit Val Kilmer the Real Deal website. McGillion plays Deputy Jerry Pine in this story. Synopsis: “On a dark Christmas Eve in a small town, the lone Sheriffs on the night shift encounter a mysterious man who goes by the name of Mr. Nobody. As the night progresses, the Sheriffs discover that this isn’t just a nobody, but a vengeful killer whose past threatens to haunt them all.” As you can tell from our screencap of McGillion, this is a horror/thriller, so beware!
Saturday, November 27	Jewel Staite‘s Hallmark Channel movie Call Me Mrs. Miracle premieres tonight at 8 PM ET/7 PM CT. Staite plays Molly in this holiday story about Mrs. Miracle’s cheering up the employees of the troubled Finley Department Store during the Christmas holiday season. Christopher Judge is scheduled to appear at London’s Collectormania this weekend. Make sure to visit the event’s website for details. Also this weekend, Joe Flanigan will be attending the Scandinavian Sci-Fi, Game and Film Convention in Stockholmmässan. More details are at the con’s website.
Sunday, November 28	Collectormania and the Scandinavian Sci-Fi, Game and Film Convention continue today. Lou Diamond Phillips provides the voice for Rusty, Stan’s rich half-brother, in tonight’s episode of American Dad on FOX at 9:30 PM ET (“There Will Be Bad Blood”). The storyline: Rusty visits Stan for Thanksgiving and “turns out to be richer than Stan thought he was, leading to something other than brotherly love” (Gear Live TV Envy).

Robert Picardo – Apologies to Picardo fans! We hadn’t heard that he’d be a guest star on Supernatural on November 19 in the episode “Clap Your Hands If You Believe …”! Good news, though: The CW will be posting the episode online soon so you can still catch his appearance!
David Hewlett – He wasn’t in last week’s episode of Hellcats as we were expecting. The show will be on a brief break and will return December 1, so we’ll be on the look-out for him as Dr. Eagan then.

Tuesday, November 9	Syfy: SGU 2.07 “The Greater Good” at 9 PM ET, with a repeat at 11 PM. Sky1/UK: SGU 2.06 “Trial and Error” at 9 PM. Today is Teryl Rothery‘s birthday!
Wednesday, November 10	Stargate Universe – Season 1 DVD set is being released in France today. Last week, David Hewlett thought that maybe his first of three appearances in The CW’s new show Hellcats was going to be aired, but it turned out not to be the case. He tweeted, “Next week I guess!” We’ve checked with TV Guide for the next two episodes, and Hewlett’s name doesn’t appear attached to them, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s not in them. If he isn’t able to direct his fans via Twitter when his episodes will air, we’ll just have to keep our eyes open for him at 9 PM ET on Wednesday nights on The CW. If we do happen to miss his appearance, The CW posts full episodes online for later viewing.
Thursday, November 11	Veterans Day in USA and Remembrance Day in Canada SGU 1.12 “Divided” on New Zealand’s Prime TV at 8:30 PM.
Friday, November 12	Sci Fi/Australia: SGU 2.07 “The Greater Good” at 8:30 PM. Space/Canada: SGU 2.07 “The Greater Good” at 10 PM ET. “Fans in Canada have to wait until Friday night to check out The Greater Good, but they also get an extra treat when the entire cast puts in an appearance on Innerspace immediately following the show.” — Joseph Mallozzi. There will also be a Live Chat between 2:00 and 2:30. Visit Spacecast for the details. The cast of Stargate Universe will be present on the CTV Canada AM show, which airs from 6 AM to 9 AM PT. They’ll be discussing the show’s Gemini nominations in honor of the Gemini Award’s Broadcast Gala that is occurring November 13. Chevron 7.5 begins today and runs until Sunday, November 14. From the con’s website: “This unofficial convention aims to bring together fans of the various “Stargate” series including “SG1”, “Stargate: Atlantis” and the brand new “Stargate: Universe” from across the country to meet some of the show’s stars and enjoy various events over the weekend. There will be activities each day from guest talks and photograph sessions to quizzes and late night parties. For more information on these, check out our events section. News Flashes and Brief Follow-Ups

Gemini Awards – Stargate Universe was nominated for nine Gemini Awards this year, and five of them were covered in the Industry Gala held last week. Unfortunately, none of them were taken home.
Michael Shanks – There was some confusion as to which Tower Prep episode Michael Shanks was to make his appearance as Professor Literature. MSOL investigated and determined that his episode, titled “Book Report”, will air November 16.
SG-1 and SGA Portals – Each Friday, a new feature is posted to the Portal pages. This past Friday, we worked from the keyword prompt “mutations”. From that prompt, we got into the discussion of biological warfare. Visit the SG-1 Portal to discuss “Teal’c in ‘Bane'” and the SGA Portal to discuss “Sheppard in ‘Conversion'”.
