Stargate Planner: Week of January 17-23

We’ll update this article if something comes to our attention during the week. Also, if you’ve got more to add, please don’t hesitate to announce them in the comment section below.

Calendar

Tuesday,   January 18
Wednesday, January 19 Today is Rachel Luttrell‘s birthday.
Thursday,   January 20 Tonight at 10/9c is the premiere of the new USA network series Fairly Legal in which Richard Dean Anderson will be making five appearances over the first season as David Smith. Fairly Legal is the new title of the series; it was formerly called Facing Kate. The pilot is 90 minutes and the remaining nine episodes will be one hour each. The premise: “Kate Reed (Sarah Shahi) is a firm believer that justice can always be found-even if it’s not always in the courtroom. Once a lawyer at her family’s esteemed San Francisco firm, Kate’s frustration with the legal system led her to a new career as a mediator. Thanks to her innate understanding of human nature, thorough legal knowledge, and wry sense of humor, Kate is a natural when it comes to dispute resolution. Except, it seems, when it comes to conflicts in her own life” (Show’s official homepage).

Beau Bridges will be among the hosts at the premiere of the documentary Elephants and Man: A Litany of Tragedy at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood.

From PR-USA: The film, executive produced by Melya Kaplan and directed by Jacek Kropinski, chronicles the history of elephants in captivity. Kaplan, founder of the nonprofit Voice for the Animals Foundation, contends that zoos and circuses are not capable of properly caring for elephants due to their size and their need for vast amounts of space in which to roam. Many celebrities have joined Kaplan in a campaign to persuade zoos to close elephant exhibits and transfer the pachyderms to larger sanctuaries.

The host committee for the premiere of “Elephants and Man” includes Cher, Alec Baldwin, Kathy Griffin, Billy Bob Thornton, Jane Fonda, Robin Williams, Ed Begley, Jr., Paul Haggis, Fisher Stevens, Ric O’Barry, Karen Black, Lainie Kazan, Ken Davitian, Sally Field, Beau Bridges and others. Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo in GAME OF THRONES (HBO)
  • Jason Momoa – His Conan movie was renamed to Conan the Barbarian, but still has the same release date in the United States: August 19, 2011. For his other project, HBO’s Game of Thrones, there are some rumors going around that HBO might already be renewing the new series for a second season, even before the first has been aired. Speculation as to why this might be the case can be found at the fansite Winter Is Coming. This fansite is very active in posting the latest news on the new HBO series and this editor highly recommends it. There’s also a recent article that includes an image of Momoa as Khal Drogo entitled “MGoT update: Join the Dothraki horde.”
  • Michael Shanks, Lexa Doig, Steve Bacic – Filming has wrapped for Hangar 14. Shanks plays a bad guy, a Russian gangster named Demetrius, and Doig plays a SWAT team member along with Steve Bacic, Michael Jai White, and the movie’s star, former wrestler Steve Austin. Doig published a few pictures on her Twitter while on the set of the movie: “Me as SWAT chick” and “The Boys :).” Currently, IMDb lists Doig in her role, but not her husband Shanks! The storyline: “A training exercise for the LAPD SWAT Team goes terribly wrong when they find themselves pitted against two rival gangs while trapped in an abandoned Hangar, armed with nothing but blanks.”
  • Stargate Universe – Our Stargate Wiki now has all of the transcripts for the first half of Season Two. SGU will be returning to Syfy in the Spring, possibly early April 2011.

Beau Bridges to Recur on ABC's "Brothers and Sisters"

Beau-BridgesE! Online has just published the scoop that Stargate star Beau Bridges has been cast in a recurring role on ABC’s Brothers and Sisters, currently in its fifth season.

Kristin Dos Santos reported:

Nostalgia alert! Sally Field is getting some big-time lovin’ with her Norma Rae costar Beau Bridges! […]

Bridges has been cast as a new love interest for Sally’s character, Nora, but he’s actually not so new. Insiders tell me exclusively she had a past with the guy before she was married to the show’s patriarch William Walker, and old secrets will be dredged up. Beau is slated for at least a handful of episodes during the current season.

The show’s About page description:

Brothers & Sisters is like that awkward family reunion, where everyone is airing their dirty secrets at the dinner table. The thing is, with the Walkers, they’re dropping these bombshells at every meal. The Walkers appear to be the perfect all-American family, but it’s up to matriarch Nora Walker (Sally Field) to hold everyone together as they cross paths with divorce, infidelity, addiction, war, politics, prejudice and death.

Brothers and Sisters airs Sundays at 10 PM ET. If you miss an episode, visit the show’s website or Hulu for after-airing online streaming. As always, we’ll keep our eyes open for more information about Bridges’s new role and his upcoming episodes.

You’ll be missed, buddy.” Douglas has appeared in several behind-the-scenes features over the years to share many of his trade secrets. There’s a video currently available at MGM’s Official website concerning the flame thrower Greer used in SGU 1.06 “Water”. SG-1 fans may recall one of his most dramatic explosions, which he got only one chance to get right: the destruction of the Abydos pyramid in “Full Circle”.
